linux-image-generic-lts-xenial software package provides Generic Linux kernel image, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install linux-image-generic-lts-xenial
linux-image-generic-lts-xenial is installed in your system.
Make ensure the linux-image-generic-lts-xenial package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep linux-image-generic-lts-xenial*
You will get with linux-image-generic-lts-xenial package name, version, architecture and description in a table
