lighttpd software package provides fast webserver with minimal memory footprint, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install lighttpd
lighttpd is installed in your system.
Make ensure the lighttpd package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep lighttpd *
You will get with lighttpd package name, version, architecture and description in a table
