libvtk5-dev software package provides VTK header files for building C++ code, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install libvtk5-dev
libvtk5-dev is installed in your system.
Make ensure the libvtk5-dev package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep libvtk5-dev *
You will get with libvtk5-dev package name, version, architecture and description in a table
