libvdpau-dev software package provides Video Decode and Presentation API for Unix (development files), you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install libvdpau-dev
libvdpau-dev is installed in your system.
Make ensure the libvdpau-dev package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep libvdpau-dev *
You will get with libvdpau-dev package name, version, architecture and description in a table
