libprotobuf-lite8 software package provides protocol buffers C++ library (lite version), you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install libprotobuf-lite8
libprotobuf-lite8 is installed in your system.
Make ensure the libprotobuf-lite8 package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep libprotobuf-lite8 *
You will get with libprotobuf-lite8 package name, version, architecture and description in a table
