How to uninstall or remove libmagic1 software package from Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr)

You can uninstall or removes an installed libmagic1 package itself from Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) through the terminal,

$ sudo apt-get remove libmagic1

Uninstall libmagic1 including dependent package

If you would like to remove libmagic1 and it's dependent packages which are no longer needed from Ubuntu,

$ sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove libmagic1
Use Purging libmagic1

If you use with purge options to libmagic1 package all the configuration and dependent packages will be removed.

$ sudo apt-get purge libmagic1

If you use purge options along with auto remove, will be removed everything regarding the package, It's really useful when you want to reinstall again.

$ sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove libmagic1
