libgnome-desktop-2-17 software package provides Utility library for loading .desktop files - runtime files, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install libgnome-desktop-2-17
libgnome-desktop-2-17 is installed in your system.
Make ensure the libgnome-desktop-2-17 package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep libgnome-desktop-2-17 *
