libfile-slurp-perl software package provides single call read & write file routines, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install libfile-slurp-perl
libfile-slurp-perl is installed in your system.
Make ensure the libfile-slurp-perl package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep libfile-slurp-perl *
You will get with libfile-slurp-perl package name, version, architecture and description in a table
