libbarcode-zbar-perl software package provides bar code scanner and decoder (Perl bindings), you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install libbarcode-zbar-perl
libbarcode-zbar-perl is installed in your system.
Make ensure the libbarcode-zbar-perl package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep libbarcode-zbar-perl *
You will get with libbarcode-zbar-perl package name, version, architecture and description in a table
