libassimp3 software package provides 3D model import library, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install libassimp3
libassimp3 is installed in your system.
Make ensure the libassimp3 package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep libassimp3 *
You will get with libassimp3 package name, version, architecture and description in a table
