kinput2-canna software package provides An input server for X11 applications that want Japanese text input, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install kinput2-canna
kinput2-canna is installed in your system.
Make ensure the kinput2-canna package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep kinput2-canna *
You will get with kinput2-canna package name, version, architecture and description in a table
