irda-modules-3.13.0-24-generic software package provides Support for Infrared protocols, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install irda-modules-3.13.0-24-generic
irda-modules-3.13.0-24-generic is installed in your system.
