idle-python2.7 software package provides IDE for Python (v2.7) using Tkinter, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install idle-python2.7
idle-python2.7 is installed in your system.
Make ensure the idle-python2.7 package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep idle-python2.7 *
You will get with idle-python2.7 package name, version, architecture and description in a table
