gnome-system-log software package provides system log viewer for GNOME, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install gnome-system-log
gnome-system-log is installed in your system.
Make ensure the gnome-system-log package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep gnome-system-log *
You will get with gnome-system-log package name, version, architecture and description in a table
