gnome-settings-daemon software package provides daemon handling the GNOME session settings, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install gnome-settings-daemon
gnome-settings-daemon is installed in your system.
Make ensure the gnome-settings-daemon package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep gnome-settings-daemon *
You will get with gnome-settings-daemon package name, version, architecture and description in a table
