gnome-panel-data software package provides common files for the GNOME Panel, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install gnome-panel-data
gnome-panel-data is installed in your system.
Make ensure the gnome-panel-data package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep gnome-panel-data *
You will get with gnome-panel-data package name, version, architecture and description in a table
