gnome-codec-install software package provides GStreamer codec installer, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install gnome-codec-install
gnome-codec-install is installed in your system.
Make ensure the gnome-codec-install package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep gnome-codec-install *
You will get with gnome-codec-install package name, version, architecture and description in a table
