fpgatools software package provides tool to program field-programmable gate arrays, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install fpgatools
fpgatools is installed in your system.
Make ensure the fpgatools package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep fpgatools *
You will get with fpgatools package name, version, architecture and description in a table
