extra-xdg-menus software package provides Extra menu categories for applications under GNOME and KDE, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install extra-xdg-menus
extra-xdg-menus is installed in your system.
Make ensure the extra-xdg-menus package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep extra-xdg-menus *
You will get with extra-xdg-menus package name, version, architecture and description in a table
