evtest software package provides utility to monitor Linux input device events, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install evtest
evtest is installed in your system.
Make ensure the evtest package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep evtest *
You will get with evtest package name, version, architecture and description in a table
