emacs23-lucid software package provides The GNU Emacs editor, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install emacs23-lucid
emacs23-lucid is installed in your system.
Make ensure the emacs23-lucid package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep emacs23-lucid *
You will get with emacs23-lucid package name, version, architecture and description in a table
