elmer-common software package provides finite element multiphysics suite - architecture-independent files, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install elmer-common
elmer-common is installed in your system.
Make ensure the elmer-common package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep elmer-common *
You will get with elmer-common package name, version, architecture and description in a table
