eatmydata software package provides library and utilities designed to disable fsync and friends, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install eatmydata
eatmydata is installed in your system.
Make ensure the eatmydata package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep eatmydata *
You will get with eatmydata package name, version, architecture and description in a table
