disktype software package provides detection of content format of a disk or disk image, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install disktype
disktype is installed in your system.
Make ensure the disktype package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep disktype *
You will get with disktype package name, version, architecture and description in a table
