createrepo software package provides tool to generate the metadata for a yum repository, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install createrepo
createrepo is installed in your system.
Make ensure the createrepo package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep createrepo *
You will get with createrepo package name, version, architecture and description in a table
