compiz-plugins-extra software package provides transitional dummy package., you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install compiz-plugins-extra
compiz-plugins-extra is installed in your system.
Make ensure the compiz-plugins-extra package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep compiz-plugins-extra *
You will get with compiz-plugins-extra package name, version, architecture and description in a table
