libc-ares-dev software package provides library for asynchronous name resolves (development files), you can install in your Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install libc-ares-dev
libc-ares-dev is installed in your system.
Make ensure the libc-ares-dev package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep libc-ares-dev *
You will get with libc-ares-dev package name, version, architecture and description in a table
