How to uninstall or remove libavutil51 software package from Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin)

You can uninstall or removes an installed libavutil51 package itself from Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin) through the terminal,

$ sudo apt-get remove libavutil51

Uninstall libavutil51 including dependent package

If you would like to remove libavutil51 and it's dependent packages which are no longer needed from Ubuntu,

$ sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove libavutil51

Use Purging libavutil51

If you use with purge options to libavutil51 package all the configuration and dependent packages will be removed.

$ sudo apt-get purge libavutil51

If you use purge options along with auto remove, will be removed everything regarding the package, It's really useful when you want to reinstall again.

$ sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove libavutil51
