itstool software package provides tool for translating XML documents with PO files, you can install in your Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install itstool
itstool is installed in your system.
Make ensure the itstool package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep itstool *
You will get with itstool package name, version, architecture and description in a table
