i8kutils software package provides utilities for Dell Inspiron and Latitude laptops, you can install in your Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install i8kutils
i8kutils is installed in your system.
Make ensure the i8kutils package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep i8kutils *
You will get with i8kutils package name, version, architecture and description in a table
