gnome-devel software package provides The GNOME Desktop Environment -- development tools, you can install in your Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install gnome-devel
gnome-devel is installed in your system.
Make ensure the gnome-devel package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep gnome-devel *
You will get with gnome-devel package name, version, architecture and description in a table
