geotiff-bin software package provides the GeoTIFF library -- tools, you can install in your Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install geotiff-bin
geotiff-bin is installed in your system.
Make ensure the geotiff-bin package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep geotiff-bin *
You will get with geotiff-bin package name, version, architecture and description in a table
