gap-dev software package provides GAP computer algebra system, compiler and development files, you can install in your Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install gap-dev
gap-dev is installed in your system.
Make ensure the gap-dev package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep gap-dev *
You will get with gap-dev package name, version, architecture and description in a table
