firebird2.1-classic software package provides Firebird Classic Server - an RDBMS based on InterBase 6.0 code, you can install in your Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install firebird2.1-classic
firebird2.1-classic is installed in your system.
Make ensure the firebird2.1-classic package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep firebird2.1-classic *
You will get with firebird2.1-classic package name, version, architecture and description in a table
