ffmpeg-doc software package provides Documentation of the Libav API (transitional package), you can install in your Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install ffmpeg-doc
ffmpeg-doc is installed in your system.
Make ensure the ffmpeg-doc package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep ffmpeg-doc *
You will get with ffmpeg-doc package name, version, architecture and description in a table
