dico software package provides RFC 2229 compliant dictionary client, you can install in your Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin) by running the commands given below on the terminal,

$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install dico 

dico is installed in your system.

Make ensure the dico package were installed using the commands given below,

$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep dico *

You will get with dico package name, version, architecture and description in a table
