dh-metainit software package provides Debhelper addon to install and register a metainit file, you can install in your Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install dh-metainit
dh-metainit is installed in your system.
Make ensure the dh-metainit package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep dh-metainit *
You will get with dh-metainit package name, version, architecture and description in a table
