cec-utils software package provides USB CEC Adaptor communication Library (utility programs), you can install in your Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install cec-utils
cec-utils is installed in your system.
Make ensure the cec-utils package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep cec-utils *
You will get with cec-utils package name, version, architecture and description in a table
