empathy-doc software package provides virtual package provided by empathy-common, you can install in your Debian 9 (Stretch) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install empathy-doc
empathy-doc is installed in your system.
Make ensure the empathy-doc package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep empathy-doc*
You will get with empathy-doc package name, version, architecture and description in a table
