biom-format-tools software package provides command-line tools for BIOM format, you can install in your Debian 9 (Stretch) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install biom-format-tools
biom-format-tools is installed in your system.
Make ensure the biom-format-tools package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep biom-format-tools *
You will get with biom-format-tools package name, version, architecture and description in a table
