libfreetype6-dev software package provides FreeType 2 font engine, development files, you can install in your Debian 8 (Jessie) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install libfreetype6-dev
libfreetype6-dev is installed in your system.
Make ensure the libfreetype6-dev package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep libfreetype6-dev *
You will get with libfreetype6-dev package name, version, architecture and description in a table
