jellyfish-examples software package provides count k-mers in DNA sequences (examples for testing), you can install in your Debian 8 (Jessie) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install jellyfish-examples
jellyfish-examples is installed in your system.
Make ensure the jellyfish-examples package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep jellyfish-examples *
You will get with jellyfish-examples package name, version, architecture and description in a table
