jed-common software package provides S-Lang runtime files for jed and xjed, you can install in your Debian 8 (Jessie) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install jed-common
jed-common is installed in your system.
Make ensure the jed-common package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep jed-common *
You will get with jed-common package name, version, architecture and description in a table
