How to uninstall or remove java5-runtime software package from Debian 8 (Jessie)

You can uninstall or removes an installed java5-runtime package itself from Debian 8 (Jessie) through the terminal,

$ sudo apt-get remove java5-runtime

Uninstall java5-runtime including dependent package

If you would like to remove java5-runtime and it's dependent packages which are no longer needed from Ubuntu,

$ sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove java5-runtime
Use Purging java5-runtime

If you use with purge options to java5-runtime package all the configuration and dependent packages will be removed.

$ sudo apt-get purge java5-runtime

If you use purge options along with auto remove, will be removed everything regarding the package, It's really useful when you want to reinstall again.

$ sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove java5-runtime
