gopher-client software package provides virtual package provided by gopher, you can install in your Debian 8 (Jessie) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install gopher-client
gopher-client is installed in your system.
Make ensure the gopher-client package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep gopher-client*
You will get with gopher-client package name, version, architecture and description in a table
