gir1.2-appstream software package provides Library to access AppStream services (introspection data), you can install in your Debian 8 (Jessie) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install gir1.2-appstream
gir1.2-appstream is installed in your system.
Make ensure the gir1.2-appstream package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep gir1.2-appstream *
You will get with gir1.2-appstream package name, version, architecture and description in a table
