ftp-server software package provides virtual package provided by pure-ftpd-postgresql, twoftpd-run, pure-ftpd-mysql, pure-ftpd, muddleftpd, ftpd-ssl, vsftpd, inetutils-ftpd, ftpd, proftpd-basic, pure-ftpd-ldap, heimdal-servers, you can install in your Debian 8 (Jessie) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install ftp-server
ftp-server is installed in your system.
Make ensure the ftp-server package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep ftp-server*
You will get with ftp-server package name, version, architecture and description in a table
