editor software package provides virtual package provided by vim-gnome, jove, vigor, emacs24-lucid, emacs24, mg, nano, jupp, fte-xwindow, emacs24-nox, fte-terminal, xvile, ne, edbrowse, vim, jed, vim-athena, nano-tiny, xjed, le, vile, fte-console, vim-gtk, vim-tiny, levee, scite, nano-udeb, vim-nox, you can install in your Debian 8 (Jessie) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install editor
editor is installed in your system.
Make ensure the editor package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep editor*
You will get with editor package name, version, architecture and description in a table
