barnowl-irc software package provides virtual package provided by barnowl, you can install in your Debian 8 (Jessie) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install barnowl-irc
barnowl-irc is installed in your system.
Make ensure the barnowl-irc package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep barnowl-irc*
You will get with barnowl-irc package name, version, architecture and description in a table
