git-annex software package provides manage files with git, without checking their contents into git, you can install in your Debian 7 (Wheezy) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install git-annex
git-annex is installed in your system.
Make ensure the git-annex package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep git-annex *
You will get with git-annex package name, version, architecture and description in a table
